So, I went to Texas last week which was AMAZING!!! I was there for work and had a few days of nothing but motivational awesomeness. I work for a wonderful company with fantastic people who share a desire to do good things.
I get home Sunday night and open my computer and it isn't working. Hmm. Turn it off and back on thinking that might fix the problem. It doesn't. After a minute I learn my hard drive has crashed-which is crazy because I used it just a few hours earlier in Texas.
I take my computer in and get it back. They told me that every now and again the x ray machines at the airport will fry the hard drive. Bummer. But I got it back and it worked. Woohoo! I have my livelihood back. Literally. I can't work without my computer.
But I go through my files, and realize EVERYTHING is gone. All my pictures. My journal entries for the past 3 years. All the work stuff and replaceable items will be time consuming to put back on there but there are things I will never get back. I am so sad about it. The tears are still coming.
So, if you have pictures that I might want, please send them my way.

Dude. This totally sucks. It's happened to me before. I know it doesn't help, but you should get one of these.

Sue TSA!!! Ok I'm kidding. Our laptop got stolen a couple years ago and I lost all my pictures and journal entries so I feel your pain. It sucks! But I remember something a women said who had lost all her journals in a fire. She talked about how she didn't need them anymore b/c what she had gained from journal keeping she had gained from the writing. It was a good point but it still sucks, I'm sorry!
We lost everything when our computer crashed as well... or so we thought. Our super-genius neighbor is a crazy computer wizard and was able to retrieve everything that we thought was lost... don't give up all hope yet. Find a super-genius Crazy Computer Wizard near you. If your hard drive was brought back to life, I'm sure your files can be, too.
That totally sucks, but I'm with Jami, don't give up hope! It happened to us too and our friend was able to recover EVERYTHING and transfer it to our new hard drive. Good luck-I hope you can get it worked out.
OH NO!!! That totally stinks. It's funny how much we rely on these little boxes
Chel, one thing.. Make sure they let you keep your old hard drive. And when you are in Salt lake next, bring your old one and I definitely know people who can look at it and try to retrieve some of your files!! It is great being an engineer, I know a lot of smart people like that!!!
